MY EXPERIENCE
I have provided clinical supervision to a range of professionals/clinicians in NGO’s, District Health Boards, Private Practice and other Counselling environments for the past 18 years. I was a lecturer and examiner on the PG Certificate in Systemic Therapies at Otago University for 7 years, developed and led a reflecting family therapy team in two DHB mental health services, provided team supervision to multi-disciplinary hospital and care & protection teams, and Advanced Psychiatry trainees. I also trained foster carers and clinicians in trauma informed care.
SUPERVISION AND CONSULTATION
My approach to supervision is based on systemic frameworks and models,
attachment ideas and trauma informed practices whilst respecting the
existing training and models you bring with you. My aim as a Supervisor is to
build a supportive, authentic and collaborative relationship that assists you
to:
- Reflect on your practice and personal and professional development in a safe,
supportive space - Explore the influence you have on clients and clients have on you; from an
ethical position, taking account of issues of power, diversity and difference - Reflect on what you bring to the therapeutic and supervisory relationships
from your family of origin, training, gender, culture etc - Explore theory to practice links and draw on evidenced based practice / practice-based evidence
Face to Face or Zoom supervision available.

Supervision Testimonial:
“Mandy’s supervision style is open, honest and safe. As a student counsellor, Mandy has created a trusting environment where both my strengths and growth areas are highlighted in equal measure. Her insights are generally backed by relevant articles that support growth in theory to practice and practice to theory. Her decisiveness and ability to articulate concepts in ways that are easy to understand is really helpful. Thank-you Mandy for a year of amazing learning.'” Counsellor, Auckland
“Mandy has been instrumental in my move to private practice as a Family Therapist. Her pragmatic and confident approach has supported my establishment of safe and effective robust systems. Our time together is invaluable. Mandy’s supervision allows me to reflect on experiences while providing suggestions I can implement into sessions. I have grown immensely as a therapist alongside Mandy and highly recommend her as a supervisor.” Senior Occupational Therapist, Auckland
“Mandy brings a profound sense of presence, deep knowledge, and articulate insight that makes any topic I bring to supervision a meaningful journey of understanding. She is the “difference that makes the difference.” Eating Disorder Therapist, Auckland
